Why do you need family photos? Good question! How do you remember a family member or event 20 years ago? Photos. How do you remanence on the “good ole’days?” Photos. How do you compare baby features from great grand parents who you never met? Photos.

Yup. That's right. Photos are the only thing that can trigger a memory for us to remember a moment. And that’s right. PHOTOS. Printed photos!

Do you remember zip drives? Or also known as floppy disks? Do you have a computer that can read those anymore? What about VHS? Do you have a VHS player anymore? I have so many Disney VHS tapes at my parents house that need to be converted its ridiculous lol.

Cell phone photos. What do you do with them? … nothing. Put them on the cloud and if someone asks about your vacation from three years ago, you have to go back to through the cloud to search.

I digress. But! How do you want your family to remember themselves 20 years from now? How can you remember those little details of your kids or how they do airplane with dad? Photography is the only way that we can preserve those precious memories and look back on them.

Now, why is it important? Think about it. When someone passes that we love, what do we do first? Get out the photo album to remember the times. Get photos printed so that they can be shared with family and friends. We always go back to those photos to reminisce.

There are scientific studies out there that show that one way to help people with Alzheimer’s or a Tramatic Brain Injury is with photos. Bringing photo albums from the past with significant people in them can trigger memories.

Printed photos in your home will boost your child’s self- esteem. David Krauss, a licensed psychologist from Cleveland, Ohio says, “I think it is really important to show a family as a family unit. It is so helpful for children to see themselves as a valued and important part of that family unit. A photographer’s job is to create and make the image look like a safe holding space for kids where they are safe and protected. Kids get it on a really simple level.”

“It lets children learn who they are and where they fit,” says Judy Weiser. a psychologist, art therapist and author based in Vancouver. “They learn their genealogy and the the uniqueness of their own family and its story. When a child sees a family portrait with them included in the photograph they say to themselves: ‘These people have me as part of what they are, that’s why I belong here. This is where I come from.'”

The importance of printed photographs displayed in your living space was echoed by other experts.

“My personal and clinical bias is there is something very powerful in touching your fingers to an actual print,” says Craig Steinberg, a licensed psychologist who works with children ages five through 13 near Eugene, Ore. “Touching the photograph where a face is smiling or the shoulders, it is the same thing as touching a book when you read it. There’s a lot of stimulation of the brain when you have that sensory experience. That is a bit lost in the move to digital. You are touching a keyboard, mouse or a touchscreen but you are not touching the image.

Designing your photos in your home sends the message to your family that those in the photo are important and you honor them as part of the family. We recommend family photos in your living spaces and also individual portraits in your child’s room.

It says, we love you and care about you. Every child has a moment in their life that they need their mom and dad. This reassures that. You, as a parent, are proud to have them as your children.

If its formal portraits in studio or lifestyle in home, we design your session just for you. We want it to show your personalities, lifestyle and love for each other.

Albums are also a great way to show your children a story. The example below is an album that I have for my son Cole from his baptism. Cecilia photographed this important memory for us back in February and we put all of the memories into this beautiful album. We then brought them to Easter and 4th of July parties to share with family! It was so nice to see my mother in law looking through the album at her family. We also gifted an album to Aaron’s sister who’s baby Gemma was also baptized.

What is a Fresh 48 session? It is the most amazing, emotional and sweetest session a new family will ever have. Within 48 hours of birth, we come to our clients hospital room to capture the tiny details of their baby that will change so quickly in the first few weeks of birth. It is lifestyle and natural which means there is no posing of baby or colored wraps. We use the baby's wrap from the hospital and also the hat. It is a memory we want to preserve.

Cooper University Hospital is absolutely amazing. Gorgeously renovated and welcoming right when you come in the door! Staff is wonderful and informative.

Robbie and Priya called 3 weeks before their due date and said they were having their baby! Yay!!! Baby Aveer into our wonderful world on August 5th. Beautiful and healthy as can be.

When I went to the hospital, shortly after all of her family arrived. It was so nice to meet her in laws, more brothers (I already met the fun uncle ;) ) aunts, uncles and nieces!

Please enjoy Priya and Robbie's Fresh 48 session at Cooper University Hospital

Mommy & Me Session | Burlington New Jersey Portrait Studio

Back in May for Mother's Day, we did Mommy & Me limited edition sessions. What I really loved about it was that we got to pamper our mom's with hair and make-up to make them feel beautiful! I know for a fact that these mom's do not think about themselves first. Everything is about those little kiddos so I wanted to take some time to let them relax. We had Jackie, one of our assistants, at the session to play with the kiddos so mom could have time to herself!

Please enjoy our Mommy & Me sessions!
