Nyikita Family Session | NJ and Philly Family Photographer

Family-3373.jpg

Let me just say. The Nyikita family is just absolutely amazing. I was lucky enough to be referred from another photographer and she referred such a happy and fun family.

We were suppose to shoot on a Wednesday evening at sunset but, the weather forecast was calling for rain for the next 6 days!! This summer was so hot and sweaty, now rain had to bust our parade :)

Kelly was so flexible! My husband had planned a "surprise" for our anniversary and was so nice to change it to the weekend! (he's not a surprise guy so this was big!!!)

Luckily Kelly and her family we able to schedule for that evening.

Smithville mansion was gorgeous. It is always gorgeous but it was extra special today because it was cool and not filled with people! It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves!

Check out the Nyikita family and you will know exactly why we had sooo much fun!

Maternity Photography

Being pregnant is a once in a lifetime experience. Sometimes it's planned. Sometimes it's not. Sometimes it's a surprise. Sometimes it's a miracle.

My point is that you are growing the most precious gift anyone could ask for. Documenting this time in your life is one the most important things you need to do.

We all know. I love to take photos. Every. Single. Day. Work or not. I think it is so important to document everything because we don't know what tomorrow will bring. I hear a lot of mom's say they don't want to be in pictures because they are fat, or have a pimple, or they just want photos of the kids... Well, I find it so important that you can look back on this time in your life that some people don't get.

I felt like a cow. I felt huge, hot, ugly, but I still loved my body because it was creating and nurturing the life of my son. I wouldn't change it for the world... well maybe I should have laid off the sweets but that's another blog post :)

Spa Day!!!

I tell my clients that not only is your maternity session a day to take photos, but it should also be a day to pamper yourself. We all know that mom's and women in general work so hard to make sure we work, make dinner, clean, cut the lawn, do the laundry... the list goes on and on. Take the day to go for a spa trip. Get your nails, hair and make-up done so you can relax and feel confident.

Get a Massage!!

De-stressing will make you more comfortable in photos.

Fluids

Make sure to drink lots of fluids so that your skin is glowing!

Moisturize

Remember in my last blog I talked about moisturizing!!! Lather up a lot for the week before to help any dry skin areas.

Rent or purchase a nice flowing dress

Renttherunway.com has some amazing dresses to wear for your session or you can invest in a beautiful dress that you can wear throughout your pregnancy. If you are investing in my services, it is well worth it to invest in a comfortable flowing dress. You could even wear it to your baby shower!!!

New Jersey and Philly Newborn Photography | What to expect during your newborn session

What to expect during your newborn session.

Newborn photography is not easy. Believe me, before I did several hours of training, learning and mentoring, I was absolutely horrible. I was not confident in myself and my nervousness rubbed off onto the babies. Since having my own son, I have learned that babies aren't scary. They just want to be swaddled, warm, cuddled and asleep!

The studio is kept at a balmy 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit. Babies love to be warm and even if you keep your air conditioning on in your home, I'm sure you bundle your little one up so they do not get cold. Since we will be wrapping the baby and also doing nakey poses, we like to keep the babies warm so they stay asleep and comfortable.

Feel free to bring drinks, snacks and even lunch! Sessions take up to 3 hours. This will give your baby plenty of time to nurse, cuddle, change diapers, get those burps out and snuggle with Momma if needed.

Siblings and other family members are more than welcome to come to a session. If we are doing family portraits, I suggest neutral colors to compliment a natural look. Dark, bright or neon colors are not cute. No stripes or too tight clothing that you can't breath and feel uncomfortable.

After family portraits are done, I encourage dad or a family member to take them out for some fun at a local park or out to breakfast at the Diner down the street. I want to have my undivided attention on your new baby and not have any distractions.

Since Mom will be staying with me and the baby, we will do Mom and baby portraits at this time.

Then we will move onto baby portraits. A few weeks before your due date, we will go over color schemes, themes, ideas and poses. Please make sure to let me know ahead of time if you are bringing a special outfit or prop so that I can be prepared.

Once we are finished with your baby's portraits we will sit down and pick a date for you to come back to see your images. I will have all the products that I offer out so that you can touch and feel them.

Newborn sessions take about 3-4 weeks to be completely edited.

Please feel free to ask any questions!

I look forward to your session!
